During pregnancy a womans body undergoes many changes, some of them stressful and uncomfortable.
Massage is the perfect way to reduce stress and promote general well being.
PREGNANCY MASSAGE: STRESS RELIEF FOR MOTHERS-TO-BE:
Massage therapy has long been recognized as an effective means of stress relief.
During pregnancy, that benefit does double duty relaxing the mother and reducing the flow of stress hormones to the baby. Other benefits include:
Physical and emotional relaxation, reducing the fatigue that is so common during pregnancy.
Greater circulation, improving your babys oxygen supply and helping prevent varicose veins and swelling.
Relief from muscle pain and joint stiffness, enabling you to begin labor with less tension in your back, pelvis, and legs.
Faster recovery of energy and muscle tone after the birth, reducing postpartum stress.
Most women find that they sleep much better after a massage. They feel more spacious and fluid in their bodies, able to move with greater ease and comfort.
PREGNANCY MASSAGE THERAPY:
Pregnancy is a time of changes, some eagerly embraced, and others less welcome. Your entire body adapts to the new life growing within you.
You also face important life changes at home or at work, with family and friends. You need and deserve support, especially since two (or more!) lives now depend on your health and vitality.
Massage is a wonderful way to relax, increase your energy, and relieve discomfort during your pregnancy. The caring touch of massage can help you experience your changing body in a positive, accepting way.
Massage can also be something special for you at a time when so much of your attention is on the baby to come. Just taking time out for a massage can improve your outlook on life, making everything seem easier during this time of so many changes. Pregnancy massage tables are designed to allow you to lay face down, with built in breast recesses and tummy cut outs to make room for the new you! A supportive sling holds the belly securely with just the right amount of tension to be safe.
BENEFITS OF PREGNANCY MASSAGE THERAPY:
Ease constipation, gas, and heartburn
Reduce excess fluid retention
Slow the progress of varicose veins
Relieve Headaches caused by tension, constipation, or buildup of metabolic waste products
MASSAGE CAN ALSO HELP YOU PREPARE FOR BIRTH BY:
Releasing chronic tension in lower back, abdomen and inner thighs
Increasing your awareness of tension and teaches you to consciously release
Increasing your sense of confidence and self-control
Practicing focus and relaxation breathing techniques during your massage
SUPPORT DURING BIRTH AS WELL:
An experienced massage therapist can help you relax during labor and work with your coach to help you maintain your focus during your delivery.
This team approach to your labor and delivery ensures nurturing support throughout the birth of your baby.
MESSAGE AFTER CHILD BIRTH:
After child birth, many women experience lower back pain as well as pain in the hips and legs. There are specific techniques used to help bring the body back into balance. Many hours are spent looking down at your precious bundle either while breastfeeding or simply just gazing into their little face. Holding the baby and looking down frequently, will often times cause much stress on the neck and shoulders.
CHOOSING AN EXPERT:
Not all massage therapists have received training in pregnancy massage, and not all are comfortable working with pregnant women. It is not unreasonable to ask about experience and/or credentials to ensure that the therapist is knowledgeable about the unique precautions and adaptations that are necessary for pregnant clients.
