Infared Sauna
One of the major problems of our lives today is that of a
toxic environment. There are toxins in our food, in the air, and in lotions,
soaps, creams and deodorants that we use every day. Heavy metals and chemical
toxins are everywhere.
One of the ways our body gets rid of toxins is by sweating them out
through the pores of our skin. In polite society, we try to not sweat
(unless we are doing some aerobic activity). This causes an accumulation
of toxins in our body which is shown to be at the center of many of the
health challenges we have today. The Infrared Sauna intervenes at this
basic level to start reversing that process.
How does it work?
Viruses and other toxic cells are weaker than normal cells. They tolerate
heat poorly. Heat from the sauna can combat infections and help kill germs
as well as enhance metabolism and oxygenation of the tissues.
The infrared rays are produced by full spectrum light bulbs creating
heat that penetrates to a depth of 2-3 inches into the body. In this process,
the temperature of the surrounding air is 100-130*. It is ideal for those
who can not tolerate the much hotter ambient temperature of a regular dry
sauna.
Many people today suffer from a condition called “S A D”, seasonally
affected disorder. This condition results from a lack of the infrared
rays of the sun on our skin. The primary symptom of this condition is
depression. In scientific studies, it has been shown that using the infrared
sauna is a very effective way to help alleviate the condition.
Among the many benefits available from the use of an
infrared sauna are:
|
Burns as much as 500 calories in 30 minutes
|
|
Increased blood circulation
|
|
Reduced stress and fatigue
|
|

Dry Sauna
The traditional dry sauna has been around for thousands of years.
Saunas can be used to relax and unwind. They are also a wonderful
aid to the body’s immune system.
We pick up a multitude of toxins as we go through our daily lives.
Our kidneys take out many of the toxins. Use of the sauna, through sweating,
can help reduce the body’s accumulation of lead, mercury and nickel in addition
to cadmium, sodium, sulfuric acid and cholesterol. The dry sauna puts
a demand on the body in terms of using up calories, thus assisting in fat
loss. This engages the heart to work harder to send more blood to the capillaries
under the skin. The energy required for that process is derived from the
conversion of fat and carbohydrates to calories.
Studies show that a person can burn up to 300 calories during a sauna
session. This is the equivalent of a 2-3 mile jog or an hour of moderate
weight training.
A person may lose up to a quart of water during a 20 minute sauna.
This rapid loss can cause fatigue and nausea. Therefore, drinking water
during and after the sauna is highly recommended.
Sweating by overheating the body in a dry sauna also produced the
following effects:
|
Speeds up metabolic processes of vital organs and inhibits
the growth of pathogenic bacteria and viruses.
|
|
Creates a fever reaction that kills potentially dangerous
viruses and bacteria and increases the number of leukocytes in the blood,
thereby strengthening the immune system.
|
|
Places demand on the cardiovascular system , making
the heart pump harder and producing a drop in diastolic blood pressure.
|
|
Stimulates vasodilation of peripheral vessels, which
relieves pain and speeds healing of sprains, strains, bursitis, peripheral
vascular diseases, arthritis and muscle pain.
|
|
Promotes relaxation, thereby lending a feeling of well-being.
